The Exhibitions Department at Workhouse Arts Center aims to be an educational, creative resource established to engage a diverse public in the exploration of the art of today while provoking memorable, immersive learning experiences. Workhouse Arts Center is pleased to offer artists, curators and art collectives an opportunity to host an exhibition in one of our gallery spaces.
This open call facilitates interested parties (Artist, Artist Group, Curator, Curatorial Group, Art Collectives) in communicating information to the Center. There is no deadline for entries and applicants will be notified within 3 months of the submission date.
The entry fee is $30.00 for up to three entries. Selections will be made based on images and information submitted on the entry form.

Artwork / Image Information (Minimum 5 artworks submissions / Maximum 10 artwork submissions)

- Statement About the Work (Optional. Maximum 75 words)
- One full size image and one detail image per artwork. The images must be professional quality JPEG images in 2400 x 3000 pixels. Images must be smaller than 5MB.
TERMS OF ENTRY
Photography and Permissions
The artist verifies he/she owns or has copyright(s) to the artwork being submitted or on loan and therefore, allows Workhouse Arts Center to display the artwork in its galleries during the exhibition dates. The artists provides approval to Workhouse Arts Center to photograph or use submitted photographs of the artwork for advertising, educational or archival purposes online and in print without monetary compensation. Images of artwork may be cropped to fit advertisements and credits will be included when possible. The artwork will remain the property of the artist unless sold on behalf of the artist by Workhouse Arts Center. If not sold, all artwork must be picked up or have proper return shipping material within 60 days after the last day of the exhibition.
Insurance and Sales
Workhouse Arts Center insures the artwork while in its custody up to 60% of the sales price or insurance value. Workhouse Arts Center does not guarantee that the insurance company will accept the value assigned by the artist and may require proof of past sales. Workhouse Arts Center does not insure artwork while in transit. Workhouse Art Center is not responsible for artwork damaged by poor craftsmanship by the artist or his/her agent.
If for sale, Workhouse Arts Center agrees to attempt to sell the artwork at the price listed on the application. Prices cannot be increased or decreased unless the Workhouse Arts Center receives instructions in writing. A 40% commission on sales will be taken by Workhouse Arts Center. The artist must provide a W-9 Federal Government tax form (obtained at http://www.irs.gov/). If sold during the exhibition, Workhouse Arts Center will issue a check within 30 days of the end of the exhibition.
Transportation and Shipping
The artist is responsible for the transportation of the artwork to Workhouse Arts Center.
If artist decides to use a shipping company for the pickup and delivery of the artworks, the artist recognizes the risk of damage during transit. If the artist requests to have the artworks shipped back, the artist must provide a pre-paid shipping label (UPS, FedEx or DHL). The artist must ship the artwork in a re-usable shipping container(s). Workhouse Arts Center is not responsible for damage occurred in shipping to or from Workhouse Arts Center.
As a non-profit, Workhouse Arts Center may offer exhibit space, general installation support and basic in house advertising but does not necessarily fund all/additional exhibit needs. Potential exhibitors should be prepared with a budget and potential funds.
Please Note: Workhouse Arts Center serves a large population. Most exhibits are group exhibits and mounted in collaboration with community and academic partners. While artists, groups and curators are encouraged to enter this open call, it is a very competitive opportunity. Generally, the exhibition calendar is booked one year in advance. Selection may include an interview and discussions with the Exhibitions Department.
All applicants must be prepared to present a sample of the proposed works in person or via mail upon request.
